Fundraising Opportunity

Would you like to do a fundraiser at your school, youth group, scout troop, or workplace? Here is what you need:

Make a Poster about Turtle Talk Rescue – There is an Interview on this website under "About Us" which will help you answer any questions that students may ask.  Feel free to use any pictures or information on our website:  www.turtletalkrescue.com

Advertise for at least 2 weeks. Hang posters, make flyers, and write articles in your school newspaper, letting students know about the upcoming “Adoption”.  This gives students a chance to talk to their family and prepare to adopt their “toy turtle”.

Order small toy turtles from www.turtlemax.com or any other website or store you may find.  Be sure to number the plastic toy turtles on their plastron (belly) with a  sharpie for identification.

If you do not wish to purchase plastic toy turtles, you could also get smooth stones and again use a sharpie to draw a turtle petrogryph on the stone. Examples on right.

Next, set a 2 week time frame for the “Adoptions” to take place.  Adoption fee is $1.  The money raised goes to help the turtles and tortoises at “Turtle Talk Rescue” here in Boise.

Set up posters and a display table with the turtles available for adoption.  Have adoption paperwork ready for students to fill out.  Give them a copy and hang the other on the “Adoption Wall”.

Adoption Paperwork – should have Adopters Name – Turtles number and Turtles new name.  Display a copy of the paperwork on an Adoption Wall for everyone to see.   If a turtle is found, students can easily check the paperwork on the “Adoption Wall” with the number on the turtle that was found, and return the “turtle” to his adopter.  (Just like a license or microchip on your cat or dog.)

The “Adoption Wall” should be close to the Library and provide easy access for students to be able to read.

Encourage students to learn about their turtle and its habitat at your school library.

It's your fundraiser, so tweak it to fit you and your school.  Make it fun and educational.  If you have any questions, please contact us at:   turtletalkrescue@msn.com
